Rep. Andy Biggs, who represents Arizona’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media account to comment on recent developments surrounding the government shutdown and its resolution.
On November 13, 2025, Biggs announced, “HAPPENING NOW: President Trump signs into law legislation to reopen the government.”
Later that day, he addressed the role of Senate leadership during the shutdown, stating on November 13, 2025: “Chuck Schumer and the Democrats were at the helm of the longest shutdown in our history, but I never stopped working for the people of Arizona’s Fighting Fifth District.
Check out just a few of the things I was working on while the government was closed: https://t.co/QmG7fJEuWD“
The following day, on November 14, 2025, Biggs criticized Democratic lawmakers’ actions during the shutdown with another post: “Aside from reminding Americans that the Left will always put politics over country, Democrats accomplished nothing during the Schumer Shutdown.
They pitched a 6-week fit, caused real pain and suffering, and now they want to move on like normal.
We won’t let them forget.”
Biggs has represented Arizona’s 5th district since replacing Richard Miranda in 2017. Before joining Congress, he served in the Arizona Senate from 2013 to 2017. Born in Tucson in 1958 and currently residing in Gilbert at age 64, Biggs graduated from Brigham Young University in 1982 and earned his law degree from the University of Arizona two years later.
