Rep. Andy Biggs, a U.S. Congressman representing Arizona’s 5th district since 2017, made several statements on his social media account addressing recent events in Congress and commenting on a reported assault incident.

On November 12, 2025, Biggs posted about an alleged assault involving individuals of different religious backgrounds: “A Muslim named Jihad assaulted a Christian man. Irony is not dead. Radical Islam has no place in America.”

The following day, as the House prepared to vote on legislation to reopen the federal government after more than six weeks of closure, Biggs wrote: “After 43 days of political games by the Democrats, the House stands ready to pass the bill that will reopen the government. Democrats got nothing out of this shutdown stunt. They only caused unnecessary pain and suffering for Americans. This was always a Democrat Shutdown.”

Later that evening, he added: “43 days of unnecessary suffering, pain, and chaos ends tonight. My official statement on the House’s passage of the bill to reopen the federal government”

Biggs has served in Congress since replacing Richard Miranda in 2017 and previously served in the Arizona Senate from 2013 to 2017. He was born in Tucson in 1958 and currently resides in Gilbert, Arizona. Biggs holds degrees from Brigham Young University (BA) and the University of Arizona (JD).
