The Chandler City Council has appointed Jennifer Ekblad as the new City Clerk, following approval of her employment contract at a meeting on January 8. Her appointment becomes effective January 11.

Mayor Kevin Hartke commented on the decision, stating, “This is a critical appointment, and Jennifer brings a wealth of City Clerk Office knowledge and experience to the role that will be a tremendous asset to the City Council and Chandler residents.”

Ekblad joined Chandler in March 2023 as Deputy City Clerk. She previously served as City Clerk for Coronado and Assistant City Clerk for Escondido. She holds more than ten years of experience working in city clerk offices.

Her credentials include earning the Master Municipal Clerk designation, certification as a Records Manager, and the Certified Public Manager designation from Arizona State University. Ekblad also holds a bachelor’s degree from Point Loma Nazarene University and a master’s degree in public administration from San Diego State University.

She will succeed Dana DeLong, who is set to retire on February 20 after serving as Chandler’s City Clerk since 2017.
