Chandler City Attorney Kelly Schwab has received the Career Achievement Award from the Arizona City Attorneys Association, according to a May 18 announcement. The award recognizes her distinguished service representing cities and towns across Arizona.
The recognition highlights Schwab’s leadership and longstanding commitment to municipal law. Mayor Kevin Hartke said, “Kelly Schwab’s leadership, integrity and deep knowledge of municipal law have helped guide Chandler on complex legal issues. This recognition reflects the extraordinary impact she has had in Chandler and across Arizona’s municipal legal community.”
Schwab has led Chandler’s law department as city attorney and risk manager since 2016. Before joining Chandler, she served as assistant city attorney for Mesa and spent 25 years in private practice as General Legal Counsel for several Arizona municipalities. Throughout her career, she has advised elected officials, managed litigation and risk matters, supported development projects, and mentored other attorneys.
The Career Achievement Award reflects a sustained dedication to strengthening public service throughout communities in Arizona. Her work aligns with Chandler’s aim to deliver outstanding public services and foster a unique community for an exceptional quality of life, according to the official mission page.
Chandler is known for hosting family festivals that draw visitors from surrounding areas, enhancing its role as a regional hub. The city features Dr. A.J. Chandler Park at its center—an area surrounded by shops and historic sites—and its population has grown to over 240,000 residents in recent years according to the official history page.
As Schwab continues her work with the city, observers note that her guidance may further support local governance amid ongoing growth.
