Chandler is expanding its Field of Honor Veterans Memorial at Veterans Oasis Park to include a recognition wall for local veterans. The new feature will display the names, ranks, and military branches of eligible veterans from the Southeast Valley, which includes Chandler, Tempe, Mesa, Gilbert, Queen Creek, San Tan Valley, and the Gila River Indian Reservation.

According to Community Services Director John Sefton, “The Field of Honor is an impactful and meaningful destination for our community. We are honored to enhance the memorial by incorporating our local veterans’ names as we commemorate their sacrifice and service.”

Nominations can be submitted through the Field of Honor webpage. Applicants must provide basic information about the veteran, proof of residency in the Southeast Valley area, and documentation of honorable discharge from U.S. military service. There is a required minimum donation of $50 for each approved nomination.

The city will update plaques on the recognition wall several times each year while space remains available. The Field of Honor Veterans Memorial was built in 2021 to honor veterans from all branches of the U.S. military. Its design features columns representing stars and stripes that are illuminated at night in red, white, and blue colors. The site also displays a Korean War-era fighter plane as a tribute to Arizona’s Williams Air Force Base.

The memorial is located at Veterans Oasis Park at 4050 E. Chandler Heights Road. For more information about nominations or other questions regarding the memorial, residents can contact CSAdmin@chandleraz.gov or call Recreation Services at 480-782-2727.
