The City of Chandler Economic Development Division is collaborating with local education leaders to host a lunch-and-learn event aimed at helping employers develop or improve internship programs. The event, called “Internship 101 for Businesses,” will take place on Thursday, Dec. 4, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the University of Arizona Downtown Chandler location.

Employers attending the event will receive information and guidance from representatives of the Chandler Unified School District, Chandler-Gilbert Community College, Arizona State University, and the University of Arizona. These partners plan to share strategies, toolkits, templates, and contacts that can assist businesses in creating internships aligned with both academic curricula and industry requirements.

“Internships are one of the most effective ways to build a skilled local workforce and connect students with real-world career opportunities,” said Councilmember OD Harris. “This event brings together education and industry partners to make it easier for Chandler employers to start or strengthen internship programs that support both business growth and community talent development.”

Participants will have an opportunity to learn about best practices for launching and managing internship programs, network with local academic institutions, and explore how internships can help improve recruitment efforts.

The workshop is free but requires registration through Internship 101.

The City also offers resources through its Chandler Career Center for those interested in workforce development.
