The City of Chandler has been recognized for its efforts to promote employee and community health. The Arizona Department of Health Services awarded Chandler the 2025 Healthy Arizona Worksite Platinum Award, acknowledging the city’s initiatives aimed at improving the well-being of employees, their families, and the broader community.

According to the award criteria, organizations are evaluated on various programs offered to employees such as health screenings, physical activity options, and stress management resources. One area where Chandler scored highly was in organizational support for workplace wellness.

“A Platinum Level Award is awarded to businesses making an impact both within and beyond their walls. Platinum level awardees have demonstrated data driven programming and are leveraging cross-sector collaborations or partnerships improving the health, well-being and equity of their community.”

For judging purposes, Chandler highlighted employee participation in events like For Our City Day and Arbor Day. During For Our City Day, volunteers help with home painting, yard work, and neighborhood cleanups in areas at risk of decline. On Arbor Day, several city departments collaborated to educate about tree benefits while distributing free five-gallon native species trees to support a healthy urban canopy.

Chandler also received two awards from Vitalent: the Impact Award and the gold-level Valentines for Life Award. The Impact Award is given for outstanding leadership in blood drive coordination. “The Vitalent Impact award is the most prestigious and difficult award to earn, signifying outstanding leadership in blood drive coordination. This award is given to coordinators and organizations that work above and beyond to encourage participation in their blood drives and set the standards for others to follow.”

The Valentines for Life Award recognizes significant achievements in recruiting blood donors through education efforts. “The city also received the gold level Valentines for Life Award. This award was established to recognize coordinators and organizations that reach significant milestones in recruiting blood donors through education and inspiration.” Chandler organizes four annual drives each year, collects over 100 blood components annually, and achieves at least 90% of its total donation goal.

These recognitions highlight ongoing efforts by Chandler’s administration to support employee wellness while fostering partnerships that benefit public health across the community.
