Cost of college increased for all Arizona State University Campus Immersion students in 2022-23

Tuition for in-state students at Arizona State University’s Campus Immersion rose by 2.4% during the 2022-23 school year, based on recently released information, according to the latest disclosure from the National Center for Education Statistics.

Arizona residents paid $11,618 to attend the public university this year, an increase of $270 from the $11,348 charged in the 2021-22 academic year.

Non-resident students faced tuition costs 163.3% higher than those for in-state students in 2022-23, amounting to $30,592. This represents a 3.9% increase from $29,438 in the previous year.

Approximately 57% of the undergraduate student body are Arizona residents, while 36% come from other states and 7% are international students.

Data indicates that 93% of full-time undergraduates who enrolled at Arizona State University Campus Immersion in 2022-23 received some form of financial aid. In total, 13,371 students were awarded grants or scholarships amounting to $160.3 million, and 4,480 students obtained student loans exceeding $37.2 million.

Across the entire undergraduate population, 50,410 students benefited from grants or scholarships totaling $625.7 million. Additionally, 18,597 students took out federal student loans amounting to $123 million.

Undergraduate education costs have seen a significant increase over the past few decades. Data shows a 169% rise in the average total cost, including tuition, fees, room, and board, between 1980 and 2020.

According to a 2023 College Board report, in-state students at public universities paid an average of $11,260, while out-of-state students paid $29,150 in the 2023-24 academic year.

Meanwhile, student loan debt has steadily increased over the last 30 years, reaching $1.75 trillion in 2024, averaging a total of $28,950 per borrower. Federal loans make up 92% of the debt, with over half of students at both public and private four-year colleges graduating with student loans.
