The Gilbert Chamber Foundation has received national recognition from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, winning the Citizens Awards in the Best Civic Engagement Program category for its A Civic Event series.

The award highlights the foundation’s efforts to encourage civic engagement through community events that are open to all residents. The A Civic Event series brings together community members with gatherings that include food, music, and art, while also encouraging conversations about civic responsibility, voting, and involvement in local affairs. The program aims to create opportunities for connection and understanding among neighbors and seeks to strengthen democratic participation.

Sarah Watts, President & CEO of the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce, expressed gratitude for the recognition: “It is an honor to receive such a prestigious national award in recognition of our programming,” Watts said. “I want to recognize Elaine Kessler, our Director of Foundation and Community Impact, for her unwavering dedication to this program. She and our entire team are deeply committed to creating opportunities where our businesses and community can grow together and thrive.”

The foundation states that these events empower citizens by providing accessible spaces for discussion and learning about their roles in civic life.
