The Gilbert Chamber of Commerce has been named a finalist for the Best Civic Engagement Program in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s 2025 Citizens Awards. This annual recognition, now in its 25th year, highlights organizations and businesses that develop solutions to strengthen communities and address social challenges.

The Chamber’s initiative, known as A Civic Event, was selected for its approach to building dialogue and connection among community members. These free gatherings are held every two months and include shared meals, music, art, poetry, and discussions on topics such as voting and civic responsibility. The events are designed to offer a welcoming space where residents can engage with one another about important civic issues.

“A Civic Event creates a safe, welcoming space where residents can come together, listen, and learn from one another. Participants leave not only with a deeper understanding of civic issues but also with a renewed sense of connection to their neighbors and their community,” according to the Gilbert Chamber Foundation.

The finalists for this year’s Citizens Awards include local chambers of commerce as well as Fortune 500 companies. The winners will be announced at the Business Solves Conference in Washington, D.C., scheduled for October 28–29.

“We are proud that Gilbert’s commitment to civic health and engagement is being recognized on a national stage alongside some of the nation’s most innovative organizations,” said representatives from the Gilbert Chamber Foundation.

The Chamber expressed gratitude to its partners and supporters who have contributed to A Civic Event’s success.
