The Gilbert Chamber of Commerce has announced the recipients of the 2025 Community Excellence Awards, recognizing individuals for their significant contributions to the community and local schools. The awards, now in their 29th year, honor those who have demonstrated service, dedication, and leadership within Gilbert Public Schools.
Morgan Pardy, a physical education teacher at Mesquite Elementary School, received the Dr. Walter Delecki Elementary Educator of the Year award. With over two decades in education, Pardy is known for her commitment to promoting health and wellness among students and staff. She leads the district’s Be Well initiative and supports colleagues across campuses. Upon receiving the award, Pardy said, “It really filled my bucket and reassured me that what I am doing matters and is making a difference.”
Stephanie Campbell was named Dr. Walter Delecki Secondary Educator of the Year for her work as band director at Desert Ridge High School. Campbell has taught music in Gilbert Public Schools for 26 years and has been instrumental in developing the school’s band program since its inception. She also mentors other band directors and participates in statewide music education efforts. “It’s great being acknowledged for the work that I’m hopefully making a positive impact on students in the community,” Campbell stated.
The Mrs. Sharon Orr Support Staff of the Year award went to Mrs. Chen, a paraprofessional at Mesquite Junior High School who has supported special education students since 2001. Chen is recognized for her encouragement of all students through initiatives like Mustang Bucks rewards and her patient approach to student development. “We need to use patience and spread kindness,” she said. “It’s hard, but it makes a difference.”
Marisa Andrade was honored as Volunteer of the Year with the Mrs. Sheila Uggetti Award for her involvement at Mesquite High School as Vice President of the Football Booster Club. Andrade coordinates events, fundraisers, and team support activities while fostering community spirit among families and athletes. “I’ve always believed that making a difference starts with showing up, caring, and doing what you can to lift others up,” Andrade commented.
Additionally, Zadi Perkins from Gilbert High School received the Gilbert Independent Young Hero Award for her leadership roles in various student organizations including Unified Dance, Tiger Buddies, Black Student Union (as president), Tiger Tribune newspaper (as president), National Honor Society tutoring programs, and volunteer work outside school settings.
All five honorees will be recognized at an awards banquet hosted by the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce on November 12th.
