The Gilbert Education Foundation (GEF) has launched its annual Power of One campaign, aiming to raise $37,000 this year to benefit students and staff in the Gilbert Public Schools district. The nonprofit organization, which has supported the district since 2001, focuses on funding classroom innovation grants for teachers, STEAM programs, scholarships for students and staff, and emergency assistance through the S.H.A.N.E. program.

Last year’s campaign raised $29,721. This year’s fundraising goal matches the number of students and employees in the district—over 37,000 people—with a target of one dollar per individual.

Sun Valley Builders returns as the corporate sponsor for a fourth consecutive year and will match up to $2,500 in donations. Donors who contribute $50 or more will receive a “Real Households of Gilbert support Gilbert Education Foundation” t-shirt while supplies last.

The campaign includes two contests with cash prizes for school communities that raise the most funds. The top-earning school will receive $1,000; second place will get $750; third place earns $500. Additionally, each week a $100 Amazon gift card will be awarded to the highest single donation received.

“Since 2001, GEF has raised over $3 million for: classroom innovation grants for teachers STEAM programs on campuses student and staff scholarships and emergency help for families and GPS staff through the S.H.A.N.E. program.”
