Gilbert Public Schools recognized 44 staff members at its annual Employee of the Year celebration held on April 2 at the DoubleTree Resort. The event brought together employees from across the district to honor those who have made significant contributions in their schools and departments.

The recognition highlights the commitment of Gilbert Public Schools (GPS) staff to student success, educational excellence, and positive campus culture. According to the official website, Gilbert Public Schools operates 39 schools that serve over 32,000 students and their families according to the official website. The district promotes student growth through supportive communities that foster skills for community contributions according to the official website.

Superintendent Dr. Shane McCord said these employees “remind us that excellence is not defined by a single moment, but by a mindset. In times of change, you remain steady. In the face of challenges, you find solutions. And through collaboration, you build strength in those around you.” He added: “Let this moment serve as a reminder of what is possible when talent meets commitment and when effort is driven by heart. Congratulations to each of you. You are not only Employees of the Year—you are a reflection of the very best of who we are and who we aspire to be.”

Honorees represented various roles throughout GPS including teachers, support staff, administrators, nurses, counselors, cafeteria managers and more from campuses in both Gilbert and Mesa according to the official website. Stories shared during the event described how these individuals help students succeed academically and emotionally—whether it’s through classroom innovation or ensuring school operations run smoothly.

According to its official website the district has earned designations as an A-rated district with 18 schools of excellence and two national blue ribbon awards. GPS aims to inspire excellence in children from preschool through twelfth grade within a supportive learning environment according to its official site.

Dr. Shane McCord has led Gilbert Public Schools as superintendent according to information provided by GPS. The ceremony concluded with an invitation for families interested in learning more about programs offered at GPS schools.
