Gilbert Public Schools announced on May 6 that it will provide free, healthy meals for children and teens aged 18 years old and younger during the summer. The program is available at Boulder Creek Elementary, Harris Elementary, and Mesquite Junior High from May 28 to July 17, Monday through Friday.
The initiative aims to ensure that students have access to nutritious food even when school is not in session. Meals must be consumed on-site, and no sign-up is required. Adults accompanying children can purchase breakfast for $3 or lunch for $5 with cash only.
Breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at Boulder Creek Elementary and Harris Elementary, while lunch is available from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. At Mesquite Junior High, breakfast hours are from 8 to 9:30 a.m., with lunch served from noon to 1 p.m.
“USDA is an equal opportunity provider, employer, and lender,” according to the district’s announcement.
According to the official website, Gilbert Public Schools operates campuses in both the Town of Gilbert and the City of Mesa. The district serves over 32,000 students across its network of 39 schools and has been recognized as an A-rated district with multiple awards for excellence.
