Rep. Greg Stanton, a U.S. Congressman who won re-election in both 2022 and 2024 against Kelly Cooper, addressed several national and international issues on his Twitter account on January 12, 2026.

In a post referencing recent events and public discourse following the Minneapolis tragedy, Stanton criticized comments made by South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem. On January 12, he wrote: “After tragedies like Minneapolis, due process is the only path to justice. @Sec_Noem burned it down to protect Trump.

Her baseless ‘domestic terrorist’ accusation ensures no one trusts any result, accountability becomes impossible, and we get chaos instead of order. That’s”.

Later that day, Stanton commented on ongoing unrest in Iran. At 02:13 UTC he stated: “The Iranian people aren’t just reclaiming a country; they’re reclaiming dignity, liberty, and justice — especially against a spiraling, increasingly violent government.

It’s time for the regime to see the writing on the wall and do the right thing before more blood is spilled.”

Addressing domestic economic policy in another tweet at 03:24 UTC, Stanton highlighted concerns about political interference with the Federal Reserve. He posted: “The independence of the Fed underpins the strength of the American economy.

For too long, business leaders have stayed silent in the face of Trump’s authoritarianism out of fear of retribution. Today, a red line has been crossed: Trump is threatening the Fed Chair with criminal”.

Stanton’s comments come after consecutive electoral victories over Kelly Cooper—first in 2022 with a margin of 56% to 43.1%, then again in 2024 by winning approximately 52.7% to Cooper’s 45.5%.
