U.S. Representative Greg Stanton posted a series of messages on October 10, 2025, addressing concerns about federal worker layoffs during government shutdowns and warning Arizona residents about potential flooding from Hurricane Priscilla.
In his first post, Stanton stated, “Firing federal workers during a shutdown is totally illegal. Agencies need to withdraw their Reduction in Force notices and abide by the law.” (October 10, 2025).
Later that day, Stanton turned his attention to the weather situation in Arizona. He wrote, “The remnants of Hurricane Priscilla could bring serious flooding to AZ this weekend. I’ve urged @fema to pre-position search-and-rescue teams, generators, and supplies ahead of time. Preparation saves lives.” (October 10, 2025).
He also offered safety advice for residents facing extreme weather conditions: “Ahead of the extreme weather expected today and tomorrow, remember to: Make a plan and find resources at https://t.co/ZXX5q5oD7r (English) and https://t.co/i1hpIrGjMZ (Español) Don’t drive through standing water or long tunnels Charge your phone in case of power” (October 10, 2025).
Greg Stanton has served as a U.S. Representative after winning consecutive elections against Kelly Cooper in both 2022 and 2024; he secured victory with 52.7% of the vote in the most recent race.
