Rep. Greg Stanton, U.S. Congressman from Arizona, shared a series of updates on his social media accounts addressing local sports infrastructure, military authorization procedures, and water management issues in the state.
On December 19, 2025, Stanton highlighted new developments for Mesa, Arizona: “This is great news for Mesa. This sports center means more games, more fans, and more opportunity — especially for the next generation of women athletes in the East Valley.”
The following day, Stanton addressed the constitutional requirement for presidential approval before engaging in acts of war: “In our country, the president must seek approval to go to war within 60 days of hostilities beginning. That’s why I voted to rein in Trump’s illegal boat strikes in and around Latin America until he makes his case to Congress.” The War Powers Resolution requires that the President obtain Congressional authorization within 60 days after introducing U.S. armed forces into hostilities or situations where hostilities are imminent.
Later on December 20, Stanton commented on water policy challenges facing Arizona: “Arizona has already lived through shortage cuts. We know what delay looks like: uncertainty for cities, farmers, Tribes, and ratepayers. The next Colorado River agreement has to reflect how people actually use water today and make sure the rules are fair, transparent, and work” Water allocation from the Colorado River remains a significant issue impacting multiple states as well as tribal nations.
Stanton has held his congressional seat since defeating Kelly Cooper in both the 2022 and 2024 general elections; he won with 56% of votes against Cooper’s 43.1% in 2022 and again with 52.7% versus Cooper’s 45.5% in 2024.
