Rep. Greg Stanton, a U.S. Congressman who secured re-election victories in both 2022 and 2024 against Kelly Cooper, used his social media platform to address ongoing political and community issues between September 30 and October 1, 2025.
On September 30, Stanton highlighted the impending federal government shutdown and criticized Congressional Republicans for their lack of engagement in negotiations. He wrote, “The government shuts down at midnight. @HouseDemocrats are in D.C. ready to negotiate a deal to keep the government open and save 20 million Americans from massive health care tax hikes. Congressional Republicans won’t even come to the table.”
Later that day, on October 1, Stanton called on House Speaker Mike Johnson to swear in Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva without further delay: “No more delays, @SpeakerJohnson. Administer the oath of office to Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva so she can get to work for Southern Arizona.”
In another post dated October 1, Stanton paid tribute to Paul Shupe of the Mesa Fire Department: “Mesa lost a hero. @MesaFireDept’s Paul Shupe protected our community for over two decades and fought a brave battle with cancer. My thoughts are with Nancy, their children, and the MFMD. We honor his service and his life.”
Stanton has maintained a visible role in Arizona politics following his electoral successes over Kelly Cooper—winning by approximately seven percentage points in both the 2022 (56%–43%) and 2024 (52.7%–45.5%) general elections.
