Rep. Greg Stanton, a U.S. Congressman who won reelection in both 2022 and 2024 against Kelly Cooper, has used his social media platform to address issues ranging from immigration enforcement oversight to the economic impact of federal tariffs.
On January 19, 2026, Stanton highlighted concerns about accountability for federal immigration officers: “Local police officers face significantly more oversight than ICE does. I’m backing bills to require ICE agents to wear bodycams, ban masks & tear gas, restrict the use of force, & keep raids out of churches & schools. This is just the start of our fight to hold ICE accountable.”
The following day, on January 20, Stanton criticized former President Donald Trump’s trade policies by citing a recent study: “Trump’s illegal tariffs are a tax on the American people. A new report from the @KielInstitute found 96% of the costs of the tariffs are being passed onto American purchasers.”
Later that same day, Stanton commented on rising living costs under what he described as “Trump’s economy,” stating: “In one year, families are already feeling the squeeze from Trump’s economy. Arizona families paid an average of $1,569 more for the same products. Inflation? Up. Groceries? Up. Rent? Up. We should be lowering costs, not fueling the policies that make life more expensive.”
Stanton represents Arizona and has maintained his seat through multiple election cycles; in 2024 he defeated Kelly Cooper with 52.7% of the vote and previously won in 2022 with a margin of 56% to Cooper’s 43.1%. These electoral victories have positioned him as a consistent voice on national policy issues within Congress.
