Rep. Greg Stanton, a U.S. Congressman from Arizona who secured re-election in both 2022 and 2024 against Kelly Cooper, has recently used his social media platform to address issues related to tariffs and health care policy.

On December 17, 2025, Stanton criticized former President Donald Trump’s tariff policies in a post on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “Trump’s illegal tariffs are the holiday tax nobody asked for. From toys & clothes to tech & home goods, prices are climbing across the board, and Arizona families are paying the price. The Speaker shouldn’t send Congress home without a vote to rein in his abuse of tariff power.”

Later that same day, Stanton commented on efforts to extend Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits. He stated: “Extending the ACA tax credits is the only realistic way to lower premiums and protect health coverage for working families. Four Republicans chose people over politics and joined Democrats to demand a vote. Unfortunately, none of my Republican colleagues from Arizona did so.” In another post shortly after, he added: “I’m joining @RepYassAnsari and @Rep_Grijalva to urge @SpeakerJohnson to bring this bill to the floor before these tax credits expire at the end of the year. We hope our Arizona colleagues across the aisle will join us in supporting it.”

These statements come as Congress debates economic measures affecting American households during the holiday season and considers legislative action on health care subsidies set to expire at year’s end.

Stanton’s comments reflect ongoing partisan divisions within Arizona’s congressional delegation regarding ACA-related policies. His recent posts also follow his electoral victories over Kelly Cooper in both 2022—when he won with 56% of the vote—and again in 2024 with 52.7% support.
