Rep. Greg Stanton, a U.S. Congressman who won re-election in 2024 against Kelly Cooper with 52.7% of the vote, criticized recent actions by the Trump administration in a series of posts on December 2, 2025.

In his first post, Stanton addressed changes to federal recognition of World AIDS Day and funding for HIV programs. He wrote on December 2: “For decades, World AIDS Day has been a moment to honor lives lost and recommit to ending HIV.

By slashing lifesaving HIV programs and instructing agencies to not recognize the day, the Trump admin is turning its back on everyone lost to the virus and those still living with it.”

He followed up with a second post linking additional information: “https://t.co/kAiNFRClag” (December 2).

Later that day, Stanton commented on another policy decision involving drug trafficking enforcement. On December 2 he posted: “Trump just freed a man who helped send 400 tons of cocaine into the United States.

This undercuts years of international efforts to fight drug trafficking and is a slap in the face to every family who has lost a loved one to addiction. https://t.co/IfK4gBvSBp

Stanton’s remarks come after securing electoral victories over Kelly Cooper in both 2024 and 2022 general elections. In 2024, he received approximately 52.7% of votes compared to Cooper’s 45.5%, while in their previous contest in 2022 he won with about 56% against Cooper’s 43.1%.
