Rep. Greg Stanton, U.S. Representative for Arizona’s 4th congressional district and former mayor of Phoenix, highlighted his record on LGBTQ rights in a series of posts published on November 10, 2025.

In one post, Stanton noted the city’s recognition by a national advocacy group: “Thanks to this work, Phoenix earned a perfect 100% score for the Human Rights Campaign’s Equality Index for city policies.” (November 10, 2025).

Reflecting on his tenure as mayor, Stanton stated: “As mayor of Phoenix, we turned values into law. I expanded legal protections for the LGBTQ community, added inclusive partner and transgender care coverage for city employees, and I stood up to backward state policies.” (November 10, 2025).

Stanton also referenced federal legislative efforts and recent judicial developments: “I was proud to help pass the #RespectForMarriageAct in Congress to lock in protections for same-sex and interracial marriages nationwide. The Supreme Court’s decision to reject a challenge to marriage equality is welcome news, but there is still a long way to go to ensuring” (November 10, 2025).

Stanton has represented Arizona’s 4th district since defeating Kelly Cooper in both the 2022 and 2024 general elections; he secured victory with approximately 56% of the vote in 2022 and about 52.7% in 2024.
