Rep. Greg Stanton, a U.S. Congressman from Arizona, shared reflections and statements on political leadership, remembrance, and international solidarity in a series of posts on January 8, 2026.

In his first post of the day, Stanton paid tribute to an unnamed colleague: “He built a relentless, loyal team and a governing Democratic majority that got results. His sharp wit and tough tongue called out those who blocked progress and rallied those of us who championed it. I will deeply miss his wisdom and his friendship.” (January 8, 2026).

Later that afternoon, Stanton marked the anniversary of a significant event involving another member of Congress: “Honoring Rep. @GabbyGiffords on the solemn 15th anniversary of a tragic day in Tucson.” (January 8, 2026).

In the evening, he addressed international events by expressing support for demonstrators in Iran: “The Iranian people are risking everything to speak out against a regime built on repression. I stand with the protestors demanding the government answer to its people instead of working to silence them.” (January 8, 2026).

Stanton has served as U.S. Representative for Arizona’s 4th congressional district since first being elected in 2018. He won re-election in both 2022 and 2024 against Kelly Cooper—receiving approximately 56% of the vote in 2022 and about 52.7% in 2024.
