Rep. Greg Stanton, U.S. Representative for Arizona’s 4th congressional district, recently posted on social media about the passing of Dennis Cahill, a former Tempe council member, and highlighted ongoing efforts to address extreme heat in Arizona.

On November 13, 2025, Stanton wrote, “Tempe lost a tremendous public servant. Dennis Cahill was a bricklayer, an artist, and a dedicated council member who helped shape the city of Tempe we know today.

From his support for Tempe’s Town Lake and its light rail system to the senior center that bears his name, Dennis’s”. He then shared information on how to access Cahill’s obituary: “You can find his full obituary here:

Later that day, Stanton addressed the dangers of extreme heat in Arizona: “Extreme heat is a natural disaster that claims the lives of hundreds of Arizonans each year.

That’s why I founded the Extreme Heat Caucus — and I was glad to join Co-Chair @RepMikeLawler at @CSIS to discuss bipartisan solutions. https://t.co/m5n7Lev1Ba” (November 13, 2025).

Stanton has been active in both community service and legislative initiatives throughout his career. In recent election cycles, he won re-election against Kelly Cooper—securing 52.7% of votes in 2024 and 56% in 2022.
