Mesa announces Valley Bike Month events for April

The City of Mesa announced on Mar. 30 that its MesaMoves Program will celebrate Valley Bike Month in April with a series of free community events aimed at promoting safe cycling and active transportation for residents of all ages.

Valley Bike Month is intended to encourage people to consider cycling as a healthy, sustainable way to get around the city. The initiative features activities designed for both new and experienced riders, highlighting the city’s commitment to safety education and active lifestyles.

Events include “Smart Cycling FUN-damentals” classes on April 2 and April 29, which are beginner-friendly sessions teaching participants how to plan rides, prepare their bicycles, and navigate city streets safely. On April 10, MesaMoves will host a Helmet Pop Up at the Downtown Mesa Association’s Sunset Market from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., where free helmets will be distributed while supplies last. The program also features a community ride on Bike-to-Work Day scheduled for April 15; riders will depart from Lehi Park at 7 a.m. and arrive at the Plaza at Mesa City Center for breakfast, refreshments, and free T-shirts while supplies last.

MesaMoves is operated by the Transportation Department along with outreach volunteers who provide free community events, safety classes, educational kits, bike maps, and helmets.
