Mesa Public Library is encouraging residents to create personalized holiday gifts using the resources available at its makerspace, THINKspot. The makerspace offers free training and access to high-tech equipment for library cardholders at four locations: Main Library, Dobson Ranch Library, Red Mountain Library, and the newly opened Gateway Library.

Each THINKspot location is equipped with tools such as a 3D printer, laser cutter, sewing machine, embroidery machine, vinyl cutter, and an iMac with professional video and audio editing software. Users must complete training sessions—available online or in person—sign a liability waiver, and agree to follow established guidelines before accessing the equipment.

December will feature several hands-on classes. These include Laser-Cut Ornaments workshops for adults at Dobson Ranch Library on December 2 and Main Library on December 6. Holiday Card Making sessions using the Cameo vinyl cutter are scheduled at Gateway Library on December 10 for adults and December 13 for families.

According to the City of Mesa News release: “THINKspot provides hands-on opportunities for creativity and experimentation, offering free training and access to high-tech equipment at no cost to library cardholders.”

Registration is required for classes via mesalibrary.org/events. To use THINKspot independently, participants need a Mesa Public Library card. Cards are provided free of charge to those who live in Maricopa County for at least 30 consecutive days per year or who work, own property, or attend school within the county.

Further details about programs and resources can be found on the library’s website at https://mesalibrary.org/.
