Rep. Andy Biggs, a U.S. Congressman representing Arizona’s 5th district since 2017, posted several statements on his social media account on October 8, 2025, addressing government shutdowns, religious law in America, and healthcare costs.

In a post at 14:34 UTC, Biggs commented on the ongoing government shutdown, stating, “Here’s a civics refresher for you: House Republicans already passed a bill to open the government, but it needs 60 votes to pass the Senate. Senate Democrats have voted multiple times now to keep the government closed. Democrats own this shutdown.”

Later that day, at 14:51 UTC, he addressed the subject of Islamic law in the United States, writing, “Radical Islam and Sharia law have no place in America.”

At 16:17 UTC, Biggs commented on healthcare policy by posting, “No, this is what Obamacare did to your healthcare costs.”

Andy Biggs has represented Arizona’s 5th District in Congress since replacing Richard Miranda in 2017. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the Arizona Senate from 2013 to 2017. Born in Tucson in 1958 and currently residing in Gilbert, Biggs holds a BA from Brigham Young University and a JD from the University of Arizona.
