Rep. Andy Biggs, a U.S. Congressman representing Arizona’s 5th district since 2017, posted a series of statements on his X (formerly Twitter) account addressing the recent assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk and the political response in Congress.
On September 21, Biggs shared a brief message: “For Charlie. https://t.co/hNo2wNbbf1”.
In a follow-up post on September 22, he contrasted congressional reactions to recent violent incidents: “In June, House Republicans voted unanimously to condemn the attacks on Democratic Minnesota lawmakers. Last week, not even half of House Democrats voted to condemn the assassination of Charlie Kirk.”
Later that day, Biggs referenced remarks made at Kirk’s memorial service and reiterated his criticism of House Democrats: “During Charlie Kirk’s memorial, Erika boldly proclaimed that she forgives her husband’s assassin. House Democrats couldn’t even get half of their caucus to condemn Charlie’s assassination. The Left sows division, hatred, and discord. The Right urges reconciliation.”
Andy Biggs has served in Congress since replacing Richard Miranda in 2017 and previously held office in the Arizona Senate from 2013 to 2017. Born in Tucson in 1958 and currently residing in Gilbert, Biggs graduated from Brigham Young University with a BA in 1982 and earned his JD from the University of Arizona in 1984.
