Rep. Andy Biggs, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Arizona’s 5th district since 2017, posted several statements on social media between October 17 and 18, 2025, addressing issues ranging from international taxation to recent presidential commutations.

On October 17, Biggs expressed skepticism regarding an unspecified event or initiative by stating, “I’m not surprised. One of the sponsors is literally the Communist Party of the USA.”

Later that day, he criticized the United Nations and discussed his legislative response to a proposed international tax. In his post dated October 17 at 20:49 UTC, Biggs wrote: “The corrupt, globalist United Nations has no authority to tax the American people or our industries. I sponsored legislation condemning the UN’s plan to tax maritime shipping emissions. We will always defend our right to self-governance.”

On October 18, Biggs commented on President Donald Trump’s decision to commute George Santos’s sentence. He posted: “Thank you President @realDonaldTrump for commuting @MrSantosNY’s sentence. Mr. Santos’s 87-month sentence was ridiculous and unnecessary—especially when career criminals never see the inside of a jail cell in Democrat-run cities. Good luck George!”

Biggs has represented Arizona’s 5th District in Congress since succeeding Richard Miranda in 2017 and previously served in the Arizona Senate from 2013 to 2017. Born in Tucson in 1958 and currently residing in Gilbert, Biggs holds degrees from Brigham Young University and the University of Arizona.
