Rep. Andy Biggs, a U.S. Congressman representing Arizona’s 5th district since 2017, posted several statements on social media highlighting former President Trump’s recent actions and their impact on Washington, D.C., as well as addressing political opponents.
On August 22, 2025, Biggs claimed that the intervention by President Trump in the management of the D.C. Metro Police resulted in notable crime reductions: “Since President Trump used his authority to take control of D.C. Metro Police:
ZERO homicides
•Carjackings- 83%
•Robberies- 46%
•Violent crime- 22%
President Trump is making our nation’s capital safe again. Thank you, Mr. @POTUS!” (August 22, 2025).
Later that same day, Biggs directed criticism at California Governor Gavin Newsom, referencing a perceived fixation on former President Trump: “We get it Gavin, you’re obsessed with President Trump.
How about you stop plagiarizing hats and get to work fixing your state?” (August 22, 2025).
On August 25, Biggs reiterated his support for Trump’s policies regarding law enforcement in the nation’s capital and outlined his own legislative intentions: “President Trump is committed to restoring law and order in our nation’s capital.
I’m leading the charge in Congress to codify his efforts to make D.C. safe again.” (August 25, 2025).
Andy Biggs has served in Congress since replacing Richard Miranda in 2017 and previously held office in the Arizona Senate from 2013 to 2017.
