Rep. Andy Biggs, U.S. Congressman representing Arizona’s 5th district since 2017, posted a series of tweets on November 19 and 20, 2025, addressing topics ranging from historical remembrance to criticisms of fellow lawmakers.
On November 19, Rep. Biggs commemorated the anniversary of President Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. He wrote: “On its 162nd anniversary, we remember President Lincoln’s immortal Gettysburg Address.
Today’s conflicts might not take place on the battlefield, but the fight for our Republic remains.
May we all be ready to give our last full measure of devotion for this great nation.”
Later that day, Biggs criticized Arizona Senator Mark Kelly over alleged comments directed at military personnel. In his post he stated: “Arizona’s @SenMarkKelly is encouraging active duty military to disobey direct orders.
This is incredibly concerning and disgusting.
Disagreeing with the current administration doesn’t give Mark an excuse to encourage a military coup.” This tweet reflects ongoing political tensions between members of Congress regarding civil-military relations.
On November 20, Rep. Biggs questioned committee assignments within Congress by asking: “Why is a non-voting delegate a sitting member of the House Intelligence Committee in the first place?”
Biggs has represented Arizona’s 5th District since succeeding Richard Miranda in 2017 and previously served in the Arizona Senate from 2013 to 2017. Born in Tucson in 1958 and currently residing in Gilbert, he holds degrees from Brigham Young University (BA) and the University of Arizona (JD).
