Rep. Greg Stanton, U.S. Congressman from Arizona, addressed constituents’ concerns about a potential government shutdown and recognized Yom Kippur in recent posts on his official Twitter account.

On October 1, 2025, Stanton responded to questions regarding the effects of a government shutdown on public services. He wrote: “I’ve gotten lots of questions about what a government shutdown means for you:

Will my mail get delayed?
Can I still visit the VA?
Will I get my social security?

I’ve answered all those and more for you on my website here:

Later that day, Stanton posted a message reflecting on the significance of Yom Kippur. He stated: “Yom Kippur reminds us to pause, make amends, and recommit to doing right by one another.

May this day bring clarity and strength for the year ahead. G’mar Chatimah Tovah.” (October 1, 2025).

In another post published shortly after midnight on October 2, Stanton commented on military standards and gender equality. He wrote: “Men and women are held to same standard in their combat fitness tests.

Women soldiers routinely pass and exceed these standards and go on to bravely serve our country.

Don’t disrespect their service.

Stanton has served as U.S. Representative for Arizona’s district since defeating Kelly Cooper in both the 2024 general election with approximately 52.7% of the vote and in the 2022 general election with about 56% support.
