Rep. Greg Stanton, U.S. Representative for Arizona’s 4th Congressional District, used his social media platform on December 8, 2025, to address several national policy issues including trade tariffs, veteran benefits, and homelessness funding.

On trade policy, Stanton criticized former President Trump’s tariffs in a tweet posted at 17:22 UTC: “Trump’s tariffs are playing into the hands of the CCP. ‘The decline in U.S. exports was made up by a surge in China’s exports to the rest of the world.'” (December 8, 2025). The statement highlighted concerns about how these tariffs may have inadvertently benefited Chinese exporters.

Later that day at 19:04 UTC, Stanton addressed challenges faced by veterans seeking benefits: “Right now, predatory companies can mislead veterans seeking benefits, charge sky-high fees, and face almost no consequences. My bipartisan SAVE Act will shut down these ‘claim sharks’ and make it easier for veterans to find free or low-cost help when they need it most.” (December 8, 2025).

At 22:43 UTC on the same day, Stanton discussed potential impacts of proposed federal changes on local housing efforts: “Today I convened local leaders & regional housing orgs in Tempe to explain what’s at stake if Trump’s new homelessness funding limitations take effect. The stakes couldn’t be higher: hundreds of families, veterans, & people in recovery could be forced back onto the street,” (December 8, 2025).

Stanton has held his seat since defeating Kelly Cooper in both the 2022 and 2024 general elections. In the most recent contest he won with approximately 52.7% of the vote compared to Cooper’s 45.5%, while in the previous election he secured victory with a margin of nearly thirteen percentage points.
