Rep. Greg Stanton, a U.S. Congressman who won re-election in 2024 against Kelly Cooper with 52.7% of the vote, recently used his social media platform to voice concerns over national security and economic policy.

On November 3, 2025, Stanton criticized a recent policy change by the Commerce Department regarding firearm exports. In his post, he stated: “We cannot allow powerful American weapons to get into the hands of cartels, terrorists, and traffickers.

The Commerce Department’s decision to eliminate firearm export safeguards makes it more dangerous for travelers and for our military and law enforcement operating overseas.”

Shortly after, Stanton announced that he had joined with other lawmakers in urging the administration to reconsider its stance. He wrote on November 3: “I joined 55 of my colleagues calling on the administration to reverse this dangerous decision.

Later that day, Stanton addressed economic issues related to tariffs imposed during Donald Trump’s presidency. He posted: “Either Trump is lying or he doesn’t know the cost of his tariffs.

For those of us who do our own shopping, we’ve seen prices soar this past year. Bacon is up 7%. Beef & veal are up 14%. Coffee is up almost 19%.

The receipts don’t lie — Trump should end this reckless trade war. https://t.co/Jcb6iISv6e” (November 3).

Stanton’s comments come after consecutive electoral victories over Kelly Cooper in both the 2022 and 2024 general elections.
