Rep. Greg Stanton, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, used his social media platform on January 22, 2026, to express concerns about immigration enforcement and reproductive rights.
In a post criticizing South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem’s approach to federal immigration enforcement, Stanton wrote: “Pathetic and dangerous decision by @Sec_Noem. It is brazenly unconstitutional to allow ICE agents to kick down your door without a warrant from a judge.
She knows it’s wrong, she just thinks our laws don’t apply to her. She needs to go.” (January 22, 2026)
Later that day, he reflected on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade: “It’s been 53 years since Roe v Wade was decided.
Sadly, the assault on reproductive freedom goes on.” (January 22, 2026)
Addressing broader concerns over Immigration and Customs Enforcement practices and legislative funding decisions, Stanton stated: “Without real, enforceable oversight that holds agents breaking the law responsible, ICE will only get worse.
I voted no on the Republican funding bill because I cannot support a paramilitary-style mass deportation operation that keeps getting it wrong and hurting so many people.” (January 22, 2026)
Greg Stanton has represented Arizona in Congress since first winning election in 2018. In recent elections, he secured victories over Kelly Cooper in both 2022 and 2024; in the most recent contest he won with approximately 52.7% of the vote compared to Cooper’s 45.5%. In the previous cycle in 2022, Stanton received about 56% of votes against Cooper’s roughly 43.1%.
Stanton’s comments come amid ongoing national debates regarding immigration policy enforcement practices as well as continuing disputes over access to reproductive healthcare following changes in federal legal precedent regarding abortion rights.
