Rep. Greg Stanton, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, has posted a series of tweets on December 9 and 10, 2025, criticizing former President Donald Trump’s recent policies on tariffs, technology security, and drug enforcement.
In a tweet posted on December 9, Stanton stated: ” Trump’s tariffs are 100% illegal
Even if they WERE legal, this is exactly the wrong time to increase taxes on the American people.”
Later that day, Stanton commented on U.S.-China relations and technology transfer: “Trump just handed China the keys to some of America’s most advanced semiconductors, surrendering the AI and military technological edge we’ve spent billions protecting.
National security cannot be a commodity sold to whoever has the president’s ear.”
On December 10, Stanton addressed federal law enforcement priorities at Arizona checkpoints: “Trump is pulling federal agents from drug enforcement to chase immigrants, leaving Arizona checkpoints unattended and even pardoning convicted traffickers.
@AZAGMayes is right: this is making families across America less safe.”
Greg Stanton has represented his district in Congress since first winning election in 2018. In recent years he defeated Kelly Cooper in both the 2024 general election—securing approximately 52.7% of the vote—and in the 2022 contest with about 56% support.
