U.S. Congressman Greg Stanton has issued a statement following the House of Representatives’ approval of a three-year extension for tax credits under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The move comes after many Arizonans reportedly saw significant increases in their health care premiums at the start of the year.
“The last thing Arizonans need right now are higher prices. But as of January 1st more than 400,000 Arizonans have watched their monthly health care premiums go through the roof,” Stanton said.
Stanton noted his support for the measure and highlighted bipartisan backing: “That’s why I joined every single House Democrat, and a few pragmatic Republicans, to pass a 3-year extension of ACA health care tax credits to keep health care costs low for the American people.”
He also called on former President Donald Trump and Senate Republicans to act: “Now it’s time for Donald Trump and Senate Republicans to decide whether they’ll work across the aisle to address the health care affordability crisis—or turn their backs on millions of Americans struggling to stay covered.”
Greg Stanton has maintained his seat in Arizona’s 4th Congressional District by defeating Kelly Cooper in both recent general elections. In 2024, Stanton won with 52.7% of the vote compared to Cooper’s 45.5%. In 2022, he secured victory with 56% over Cooper’s 43.1%.
