U.S. Representative Greg Stanton has commented on the recently announced ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, describing it as a significant development toward peace in the region.
“Today’s announcement by President Trump of a ceasefire agreement is a long-overdue moment of relief and renewed hope that peace is finally within reach. As a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, I will be closely monitoring its implementation in the days and weeks ahead.
Most importantly I am overjoyed that, under phase one of the deal, the hostages will finally be reunited with their families after more than 15 months of unimaginable suffering under Hamas’ brutality. And I’m relieved that desperately needed humanitarian aid is already on its way to those suffering in Gaza.
Now comes the critical work of implementation. All parties must honor their commitments, and the international community must remain engaged to ensure compliance and accountability under future phases of the agreement.
This is the first step in a long process, and it must ultimately lead to a two-state solution that brings lasting peace and stability for both Israelis and the Palestinian people,” Stanton said.
Stanton has served as U.S. Representative since winning re-election against Kelly Cooper in both 2022 and 2024. In 2024, he secured 52.7% of the vote compared to Cooper’s 45.5%. In 2022, Stanton won with 56% over Cooper’s 43.1%.
