Rep. Kelly Townsend is collaborating with a number of families and veterans to remember the sacrifices of fallen soldiers through an engraved memorial.

Townsend is working with local veterans as well as Gold Star families to complete Arizona's Enduring Freedom Memorial engraving of their loved ones' names.

The memorial is situated in front of Arizona's State Capitol. It was dedicated in 2012.

Gold Star families, who paid for a special license plate, were told that the extra fee for the plate would be directed to engraving the names of fallen soldiers on the memorial, but since then there has been no action taken to complete the promised engraving.

"Since our initial meeting, I’ve been determined to rectify this injustice and we have worked together to identify a solution," Townsend said in an Arizona House of Representatives news release. "Following an amicable and productive meeting last week, stakeholders reached an important consensus which is moving us in a forward trajectory."
