Value of Tempe-based Consumer Discretionary company Carvana Co. (CVNA:NYQ) rose 142,538,000% on Oct. 28

Value in Consumer Discretionary stocks fell 11.4 percent on Oct. 28 from the previous day.

The strongest performing Consumer Discretionary company in Arizona was Carvana Co. (CVNA:NYQ), sitting 142,538,123.1 percent higher to sell at $14.49.

Meritage Homes Corp. (MTH:NYQ) fared the worst among Arizona companies, suffering a 44.7 percent drop to $76.75.

Among Tempe companies, Carvana Co. (CVNA:NYQ) saw the highest rise in value of 142,538,000 percent on Oct. 28.

The Consumer Staples sector was the daily best-performing sector on the market.

Financials was the worst-performing sector.

Healthcare and technology stocks are viewed as the safest bets for long-term gains.

Besty Kuekcer with Benzinga.com said healthcare-related stocks, such as hospital conglomerates and insurance companies, have weathered numerous economic crises and still make a profit, suggesting that they are generally a stable investment.

While technology stocks can be more risky, given the boom-bust nature of new tech companies, Kuecker recommended a diverse portfolio of tech companies to strike it big when companies succeed or sell to other larger companies.

For short-term investments, Kuecker recommended “consumer discretionary” stocks, which are sensitive to economic changes but can rise greatly on the back of a strong economy.
