Title 42—a Trump-era public health order that has quickly expelled hundred of thousands of illegal aliens at the southern border to Mexico or their home country—is set to expire and not renewed starting this Thursday, May 11. Congressman Andy Biggs (R-AZ) issued the following statement in response to the policy change:
“The Biden Administration is utterly unprepared to address the post-Title-42 illegal alien surge at our southern border—a surge expected to be roughly the size of Washington D.C.’s population,” said Congressman Biggs.
“As a result of the Administration’s open border policies and inadequate planning over the last two years, immigration authorities have neither the resources nor the bandwidth to address yet another border crisis. The Administration—sitting insulated in Washington D.C.—has utterly failed in its constitutional duty to protect the nation.
“This Administration’s only ‘solution’ to address this anticipated border crisis is to process these migrants en masse into American communities in the interior of the United States. This is criminally dangerous.
“The Biden Administration can avoid this anticipated surge by enforcing the laws already in place and supporting the policies in the House’s Secure Border Act 2023 that will further strengthen our ability to secure the border and protect our nation’s sovereignty.”
