Gilbert, Ariz. - Veterans Day is a time to honor the heroes in our community. Gilbert will be paying respects to the brave men and women who’ve served our country during Veterans Appreciation Week. It will be observed November 5-11, 2023.
During this time, military tribute banners can be seen throughout the Heritage District along Gilbert Road. Each banner features Gilbert’s current and past service members, and includes a photo, service branch, rank, service dates, family name and more.
The Veterans Day Classic & Custom Car Show will be held at Gilbert Regional Park on Thursday, November 9 starting at 3:30 PM. It will be followed by Gilbert’s 19th Annual Veterans Day Ceremony presented by Peyton Parker’s State Farm Agency from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Supporting sponsors include Arizona Painting Company and Schorie Auto Repair.
The family-friendly celebrations will have musical performances from local schools, military displays, and special guest speakers, including keynote speaker Patrick Fitzhugh, the regional site director for USAA. Food trucks will also be on-site, and lawn seating will be available. Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or a lawn chair.
Join Gilbert Parks & Recreation for a Veterans Day Breakfast event at the Gilbert Community Center on Friday, November 10 from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM. All veterans, active duty and their families are invited to attend. Breakfast will be available to the public regardless of age, but registration is required. The breakfast will feature live music and a special ceremony.
Gilbert veterans will have free admission into Freestone Recreation Center on Saturday, November 11 as a thank you for their service. The Gilbert Water Tower will also be lit red, white and blue on Veterans Day at 6:00 PM.
Gilbert’s Veterans Advisory Board will have additional programming and resources for veterans and their families throughout the month of November. Additional news and information can be found on their website.
