Gilbert, Ariz. - Union Pacific Railroad will be doing construction on a timber deck bridge along Heritage Trail in Gilbert, with the first phase happening in early December. As a result, the trail and levee road are going to be partially closed just south of Elliot and Lindsay Roads.
The first closure will happen Saturday, December 2 starting at 9:00 PM. The construction for phase one is scheduled to end Sunday, December 3 at 3:00 PM. Dates and times for phase two of the railroad project are not yet available.
Union Pacific will be replacing a timber deck bridge with a new steel bridge. The work must be done in the evening and early morning hours to minimize impact on railroad operations. Surrounding residents should be prepared for loud noise to be heard throughout the night from large equipment and back-up beepers. Additional lights are also going to be on-site for construction crews.
The Town of Gilbert will provide additional information on phase two of the Union Pacific Railroad construction project as soon as it becomes available.
