Ongoing inflation and cost escalation have significantly impacted our community’s critical infrastructure projects, like the North Water Treatment Plant. Gilbert remains committed to protecting our town’s ability to treat and deliver clean, safe and reliable drinking water to residents and businesses.
Council is considering a proposal that would increase the monthly rate for solid waste and recycling services by $8.52 for an estimated 90% of residential customers. Commercial customers, non-residential customers and roll-off services would see an average 25% increase in rates.
A gradual rate increase for water services is also under consideration by Council. To reduce the immediate financial impact to customers, this proposal would increase the average monthly residential water bill by $17 in April 2024, with additional increases of approximately $13 in 2025, and approximately $16 in 2026. Actual bill impact will vary upon usage.
During the Customer Open House, Gilbert residents and business owners can ask questions to learn more about the rate changes, Gilbert’s critical infrastructure projects, and the next steps for Council.
