Gilbert, in partnership with Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD), will once again support the Professional Skills program this spring. The program offers self-paced training for Gilbert residents and employees of Gilbert-based businesses.
"The self-paced online training is free for Gilbert residents and Gilbert-based employees and offers an opportunity for those enrolled to take their soft skills training to the next level," said a spokesperson for Gilbert.
The program consists of ten professional skills modules, which participants can complete over a month. These modules contain activities and assessments designed to enhance their skills. All modules are completed online with access to an instructor.
"This program is a great opportunity for Gilbert business owners to invest in their current employee and new hire training programs, and for job seekers looking to improve employability," added the spokesperson.
The Professional Skills program will start in February and continue accepting new enrollments each month through the spring 2024 semester. More information can be found online.
In addition to the Professional Skills program, Gilbert's workforce accelerator partner, Elevate, is also recruiting Gilbert residents for their second Tech Sales Training Course. This six-week program, in partnership with Gilbert's Office of Economic Development, is designed to jump-start a career in the technology sales industry.
"Participants will receive virtual and in-person instruction, and upon completion, graduates will have an opportunity to secure interviews with Elevate's Employer Partners," explained a representative from Elevate.
The first cohort of the Tech Sales Training Course was held last September and saw the graduation of six Gilbert residents, referred to as 'climbers'. Within a month of graduation, three of the graduates received full employment offers.
The next training course will start on February 21, but space is limited. Scholarships are available for those who qualify. Interested individuals can learn more online.
All of Gilbert's workforce development programs, including the Professional Skills program and the Tech Sales Training Course, are managed and promoted by the Gilbert Office of Economic Development.
"To learn more about these and other business tools, including the Local First Arizona Green Business Certification Program and the #GilbertTogether HUUB, a citywide online community and resource center for small businesses, head to the Business Assistance section online," advised a representative from the Gilbert Office of Economic Development.
Gilbert is committed to supporting the development and growth of its workforce through these programs, providing opportunities for both residents and employees of Gilbert-based businesses to enhance their skills and advance their careers.
