Navy Commander Tom Digan, the captain of the new USS Arizona submarine, is set to meet with the community in Gilbert, Arizona. The event is organized by the Gilbert Veterans Advisory Board, Mayor Brigette Peterson, and the USS Arizona Legacy Foundation. Commander Digan will be available for a meet and greet at the Gilbert Town Hall Council Chambers on Friday, March 1st from 9:30 to 11:30 AM.

The USS Arizona (SSN-803) is named after the battleship that was tragically lost during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, where 1,177 crew members lost their lives. Commander Digan, with nearly 19 years of experience as a Navy officer, leads the crew in preparing the submarine for its first deployment at sea. His most recent at-sea assignment was as the executive officer aboard the submarine USS San Juan.

The invitation extends to the Gilbert community to come and meet the commander who is at the helm of this new submarine. The event promises to provide an opportunity for the public to interact with Commander Tom Digan in person and learn more about the USS Arizona and its significance.

For those who wish to attend the meet and greet with Commander Digan, the details are as follows:

- Date: Friday, March 1st

- Time: 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM

- Location: Gilbert Town Hall Council Chambers, 50 E. Civic Center Drive, Gilbert, AZ 85297
