Tempe, AZ - The City of Tempe is set to bring a unique art experience to downtown Tempe this April with the introduction of an interactive bike-themed art installation. The project, known as Light Lane by LeMonde Studio, will illuminate Mill Avenue with art projections and local music, all powered by the pedaling of community members.

The Light Lane installation will feature nine stationary bicycles that project light and sound when activated by pedaling. According to the announcement, the bikes will showcase visual art by local artists Jake Early, Chris Jagmin, and Shachi Kale, accompanied by music from Tempe Playlist musicians such as Bad Cactus Brass Band, Bogan Via, and Phoenix Afrobeat Orchestra.

The art piece, which has been displayed in cities like Singapore and New York City, will be available for public use 24/7 at three different locations along Mill Avenue: Center Pointe Plaza, the Mill Avenue U.S. Post Office, and just north of the historic Andre Building on Fourth Street and Mill Avenue.

Expressing excitement for the project, the City of Tempe's Public Art program stated, "Bikes will be available for free to the public 24/7." The initiative is a collaborative effort with support from Downtown Tempe Authority and the Tempe Community Arts Tempe Playlist program.

Those interested in experiencing Light Lane firsthand can visit tempe.gov/LightLane for more information. This interactive art installation coincides with Tempe Bike Month, offering residents and visitors a unique way to engage with art and music while exploring the city's vibrant downtown area.
