The Tempe Municipal Court is calling on students in the Tempe school district to participate in the Law Day 2024 art contest. Students in fourth, fifth, and sixth grades are invited to showcase their creativity by drawing, painting, sketching, or creating a collage that depicts the importance of Voices of Democracy. According to the announcement, students can work individually or in pairs, and the deadline for submissions is April 15.
A spokesperson for the city of Tempe stated, "Creativity is a must!" The entries will be displayed at the Tempe History Museum from April 23 to May 5, and cash prizes will be awarded to the winners.
In addition to the art contest, the city will be hosting Law Day at the Library on April 6 from 1 to 2 p.m. The event will feature Tempe Municipal Court Presiding Judge Kane, who will provide insights into the 2024 Law Day theme. Students will have the opportunity to work on their contest entries using supplies provided by the library and engage in various activities like J-U-D-G-E BINGO and Wacky AZ Laws Trivia.
The annual Law Day celebration is a national initiative established by the American Bar Association to educate students about the American legal system and its role in safeguarding freedom. The Tempe Municipal Court actively participates in this event each year.
