The Tempe History Museum is gearing up for an exciting month filled with a variety of events for the community to enjoy. From music and theater performances to historic house tours and informative talks, there is something for everyone to experience.
Kicking off the month is a special performance titled "Cesar Says," where Zarco Guerrero will portray the life and times of César Chávez through unique masked characters and storytelling. Guerrero will bring Chávez's life and accomplishments to light in a family-oriented show featuring music from the farm workers labor movement.
Following this, the museum will host a night of musical entertainment with indie rock bands Slug Bug and SCHPILT on April 5. The outdoor concert in the Museum Plaza promises a blend of musical styles and a vibrant atmosphere for attendees to enjoy.
For those interested in exploring Tempe's historic houses, now is the perfect time as tours of the Eisendrath House and Petersen House will soon go on hiatus until October. Visitors can step back in time and discover the rich history behind these iconic homes, with opportunities for guided tours and self-guided visits.
In addition to these tours, the museum will also host a range of events including lunch talks by Craig Crosby on Brangus Cattle and a Legends Gala Reception celebrating influential members of the Tempe community. The month will also feature a movie screening of "Stormy Weather" and a book club session discussing "Mom & Me & Mom" by Maya Angelou.
As the month comes to a close, attendees can look forward to music performances by Tessa Karrys and the Azure Family Concert with Tetra String Quartet featuring Deanna Swoboda on tuba. These events promise to be engaging and entertaining for all who attend.
For those unable to visit the museum in person, there are digital resources available to continue exploring Tempe's history online. Whether attending events in person or virtually, the Tempe History Museum offers a diverse range of experiences for the community to enjoy.
