CHANDLER, Ariz. – The City of Chandler Earth Day Celebration is set to take place on April 20 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Chandler Nature Center (CNC) and Veterans Oasis Park. The event promises a morning of environment-friendly activities and educational sessions for all ages.
"We are honored to live in such an amazing desert landscape. There is so much to learn and explore!" expressed Cadia Hernandez, Recreation Coordinator at the CNC, highlighting the beauty of the natural surroundings.
Hernandez further emphasized the significance of individual actions in environmental conservation, stating, "This year, our Earth Day Celebration emphasizes the impact we can all make on our environment. Even small steps can make a large difference in conservation and sustainability."
During the celebration, attendees can engage in various activities, including decorating nature journals and creating sun-printing crafts using solar power. A session at 10 a.m. will feature Dr. Tania Hernandez, Research Scientist at the Desert Botanical Garden, discussing the state of saguaros in Arizona and the conservation efforts amidst environmental changes in the urban desert environment.
In addition to the educational sessions, the Earth Day Celebration will host informational tables from organizations like the Phoenix Zoo, Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary, and Desert Rivers Audubon, offering interactive games, prizes, and learning opportunities.
